In Store Mosse national park there are several bird-rich areas for those interested  in bird watching, including Stora Gungflyet, Blådöpet, Horssjö and Häradsösjön. In several places in the national park there are also bird towers.

This is how the national park writes about one of the places, Blådöpet (which is quite close to the Lövö hostel):

The bird life in and around Blådöpet is more species-rich than out on the surrounding marshland. There you will mostly find meadow larks and heather pipits, while here you can also find species such as redshanks, greenshanks, great snipe and common snipe. Among the ducks, we mainly find mallards and teals, and within these extensive marshlands we also find the nesting cranes, which here are allowed to be completely undisturbed by humans.

Eagle hideout with webcam

In winter, eagles and other birds of prey are fed in the national park. The eagle hide for the public is located along the gravel road Kittlakull – Östra Rockne on the south side of the road. The hide is always open and can be visited all year round.

Bring good binoculars, and respect (for the sake of the birds) that it is not allowed to go outside the fence.

Many birds around Naturum

When you are at Naturum, you marvel at all the birds (big and small) that fly or sit around. Here you can sit for a long time and just watch everything that moves.

These pictures are taken by Linda Björk – see more nature pictures on her Instagram account.

Just a few hundred meters from Naturum and the main entrance is the large bird watching tower which is 12 meters high. From here you have a wide view of both Kävsjön and the quagmire. The ground floor and first floor are accessible for strollers/wheelchairs.
